The face I was born with, but older.

HELLO, I AM NICO TATAROWICZ
Most days I’m a mild-mannered TV comedy writer, but I also have a mysterious past as a seasoned copy and content writer. I am in the frankly rare position of understanding the rules of both worlds in a way that few other freelancer writers out there do. I have seen ad-world try and do comedy and I have seen the comedy world try and do commercial. Neither were pretty.

I have come to realise, as branded content evolves and merges into entertainment, that I am in fact uniquely ‘bi-lingual’ (hey, who’s judging these days amirite?). And as such, it occurs to me that in this content-rich world, these dual abilities are, in fact, a SUPER POWER (Gasp). Hey am I overstating this yet?

What I’m really saying is, I’m a properly funny writer and you should hire me to make your stuff properly funny.
I also do acting, voice-overs, podcasts and occasionally make music, write songs or provide jingles and silly stuff for anyone who asks me to. Which you can see evidence of here. To that end I’m pretty handy in a pitch when you need to bring an idea to life.

MY POTTED HISTORY
Having studied Advertising and Design, I worked in Manchester around a few agencies and then moved to London in 99. In ‘adland’ I’ve done below the line, through the line, above the line and bags of digital on brands of all sizes. I worked full time at Claydon Heeley Jones Mason for a couple of years and then went freelance in 2001. Since then I have built up another career writing and performing comedy, mainly in TV.

Telly-wise I’ve written on dozens of productions but some highlights of my comedy-writing career thus far are writing large chunks of three series of Armstrong and Miller’s BBC1 sketch show, (which won a BAFTA) being a head writer on BBC3’s cult hit ‘Murder In Successville’ (also a BAFTA and BROADCAST AWARD winner) and Co-writing Tom Davis’s recent ITV2 Sitcom ‘Action Team’. I also wrote across all four series of Daves ‘Crackanory’ penning stories for the likes of Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse, Vic Reeves and…….. Carrie Fisher! I know! (Crackanory won a BROADCASTING PRESS GUILD AWARD btw).
Most recently I have written an episode of ‘Urban Myths’ for Sky Arts that shoots later in 2019. It stars Morgana Robinson and is about Tracey Emin while she was stuck in her ‘bed’ in 1998. I have several other sitcom/comedy/drama projects in development with major production companies at the moment in both TV and Film.  Get her.

I love working with a script best, but am highly adept at general conceptual work and brainstorming as well as writing engaging high quality long copy. I am also nice to have around and do not smell at all bad (sweet like a babies head and maybe even a little citrusy?)

I don’t have a traditional advertising portfolio anymore but you can see a pretty substantial comedy CV and video samples of some of my work here.
